Hitman The Video Game

Well, this is where it all started. On the games consoles. The Hitman is a stealth game developed by Eidos Interactive. You can get the game for PC , Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. After the games came the novel and then came the movie. That only left the t-shirt and the Hitman Slot, and these were not far behind.

Agent 47 (called "47" or "Mr. 47"), is the star of the game. He´s a hired gun who is in big demand from the world´s power brokers thanks to his efficiency and professionalism. In the games, there´s an impressive soundtrack composed by Jesper Kyd who melds classical and electronic styles.

There have been 4 titles released into the games market at the latest count with a 5th on the way:

Hitman code 47
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
Hitman: Contracts
Hitman: Blood Money.
Hitman 5.

These games were said to have been inspired by Tarantino's films, in particular Reservoir Dogs and Hong Kong action movies such as Face Off.

The aim of the game is to complete a hit, or assasination of a given target (there´s a certain amount of violence inherent in these games as you might have gathered).

You can achieve this with carefully planned out hits or messy methods that involve more collateral damage (that´s wiping out civilans to you and me.) A good player is a Hitman who makes clean hits for which you will be richly rewarded. Mr 47 has a number of disguises at his disposal to keep below the radar and maintain an elemant of surprise. It´s best to melt into the crowds rather than hide away in the games.

One of the things that sets The Hitman apart is the Tension Meter, which is a gauge of how well you are melting into the background and slipping under the radar. Draw too much attention to yourself and you are likely to get drawn into a fire fight with the guards.

Another good plan on your hits is to try and make your kills look like accidents. Your target might "accidently" fall over the side of a bridge for example. In fact, in the 2nd game of the series, (Silent Assassin), you only have a single shot to complete the job. You have to come up with some more creative ways of downing your man (or woman.) Get good at this and you will be labelled the Silent Assasin which commands big respect.
